Power Reconnected: Revitalising The Battersea Power Station in London
When it comes to revitalising historical buildings, the major challenge is always catering for modern social needs and benefiting the community, while not sacrificing the valuable historical elements and uniqueness of the architecture. The regeneration of the Battersea Power Station in London is the latest example of such challenges. This decommissioned Grade II* listed building was built in the 1930s and is being revitalised by the internationally acclaimed architecture firm WilkinsonEyre. It has been transformed into a mixed-use destination right on the South Bank of the River Thames.
Culture For Tomorrow is hosting a brand new “Heritage Inspirations” webinar series. The debut session of the series, “Power Reconnected: Revitalising The Battersea Power Station in London”, features Sebastien Ricard, architect and Director of WilkinsonEyre, who will speak about the concept behind this distinguished project; and Matthew Potter, Director of WilkinsonEyre, who is also in charge of the firm’s Hong Kong office, will share his insights in relation to the Hong Kong context.
